This trio titled Intuition is where it all began. It is where I found my flow. It gifted me with my first “aha moment.” It allowed me to found a way of making that felt natural, genuine, and authentic. I realized what made me a strong artist and person was my ability to lean into those moments and feelings that you know are right before you know why or how. This is intuition. 

 

In these pieces, my intuition guided me in capturing the essence of the headspace in which I create in. Visualizing that place in physical space. I re-imagined the context of a woven textile as the base most paintings, the canvas. I lean into the materiality of the woven as a substrate as well as subject, allowing the texture and tactility to imbed new layers of sentimentality. I used intuitive collage methods as a means of sketching to develop my compositions. I patch-worked, stretched and gesso’d a handwoven base for mixed media collages incorporating acrylic coated fabric pieces, paper, and gold leaf.
